Gallowglass Training

Gallowglass Training Gallowglass Training Limited is a new company within the Gallowglass Group. Ever since Gallowglass opened its doors in 1996 and over the years since then, we recognised that our level of crew training is what set us apart from other companies.

Training is not only about ticking the boxes that allow your staff to undertake their roles and satisfy your insurance company’s requirements – it should be about “behavioural change" -- which can be a more complex task. In an increasingly qualification based environment, companies need to be proactive in developing their staff to ensure that not only are their legal but also their moral obligations are met.

Sometime back, we developed an induction course to cover all aspects of safety on site and to ensure the welfare of our crew. Each crew member undergoes basic training covering manual handling, risk assessments and industry knowledge. We aim to not only comply with current legislation but go beyond it. We thought we should take this a step further.

Gallowglass Training Limited has been established to share our expertise and experience with others and to deliver accredited courses aimed specifically at the Live Events Business. Just like our sister crewing and H & S companies, we have built a reputation for delivering the gold standard in all that we do. Gallowglass Training offers this same level of expertise and care to our industry.

We are able to offer the following courses which are all accredited by external bodies:

Safety Pass Alliance Passport for the Live Events Business

This course provides practical grounding in health, safety and environmental awareness and proves your basic health and safety credentials. This one day course which specialises in the Live Events sector ensures entry onto and into venues and other sites.

In addition we also offer the following modules as attachments to the course:

  • Working At Heights

For those who need to know more we offer the Supervisors Course. This covers the roles and responsibilities of those on site, organising work, toolbox talks, and other topics that any site manager should know. It is highly recommended that the basic Safety Passport course is taken first.

CIEH Level 2 Award in Manual Handling - Principles and Practice
This qualification, aimed at those who carry out manual handling at work, provides essential information about manual handling hazards and their control. A third of all reported three day injuries are caused by manual handling. Effective manual handling risk assessment and instruction are key to reducing these injuries and this course will help you to achieve this.

To give you maximum flexibility it can be delivered as a half-day programme for learners who only wish to gain the CIEH Level 2 Award in Principles of Manual Handling. Those who need to learn about practical manual handling techniques should stay on for a further half-day training session and assessment to gain the full CIEH Level 2 Award in Manual Handling – Principles and Practice.

This course is suitable for everyone who has to carry out any manual handling activity. The full day course combines the theoretical with the practical teaching each person techniques to lift, carry, push and pull objects safely.

CIEH Level 2 Award in Emergency First Aid at Work
This qualification introduces candidates to:

  • The roles and responsibilities of a first aider
  • The legal requirements for first aid provision
  • The importance of accurate incident reporting
  • First aid equipment and its safe use
  • The need to minimise the risk of infection
  • The importance of assessing an incident
  • Undertaking a primary survey
  • When and how to call for help
